Main Street Palestine Tx The historic central busines district is full of 44 blocks of turn of the century buildings. There is a huge renovation process going on in Palestine. Currently there are 29 buildings undergoing rehabilitation. Several have been renovated recently including the Redlands Hotel. Look at old photos of Palestine on this site.
Museum for East Texas Culture The museum is located in the John H. Reagan High School in the large city park near downtown. The many old classrooms show collections ranging from the history of John H. Reagan (a local resident) to High School history including yearbooks and much historical research material for homes and businesses in the county.
Old Town Palestine Shopping/Dining Area This area is about 4 blocks East on Crawford Street. The Creek Walk through the area is a beautiful walk with shops and buildings along the way. Also, Sawmill Hollow park area is the scene of several festivals a year. Four delightful stores await your shopping interest. Mercantile on the Creek, MaryJean's, and O'Sweet Pea, a children's boutique. The Ranch House Restaurant will be opening in Spring. This area is a part of Main Street as you progress from Downtown area to the Courthouse area.
Palestine Chamber of Commerce The Chamber offers a variety of services and information for the visitor. A very active organization, this Chamber is a leader in the community .. definitely a new and old business's best friend.

Texas Art Depot A full service art gallery and frame shop featuring nationally known and internationall known artists works in canvas, prints, and some original paintings. Texas Art Depot also carries sculpture, Rhythm Clocks, Seiko Musical Clocks, and other collectibles.
Texas State Railway The live train rides from Palestine to Rusk and return show the beauty of the scenic countryside while exhibiting the trains as they were at the turn of the century. Operated by historically uniformed crew the depot, trains and gift store offer an authentic glance into trains of yesteryear.

Texas Community Theater The crown jewel Historic Main Street Palestine, the ongoing restoration continues. It is home to a very active community theater group offering live productions throughout the year. The restored neon light on the front of the building is a bright beacon during show time.
